Golden State Warriors @ Toronto Raptors 02/27/2015

Seeking to redeem themselves after a demoralizing loss in Cleveland last evening, the Warriors flew north of the border. Tonight's contest would feature the Golden State Warriors (7-8 in their past 15 road games) against the elite, yet slumping, Toronto Raptors (recipients of three consecutive losses). Undoubtedly, Stephen Curry would be ready to go on February 27th, 2015. Two years ago tonight, Steph lit up Madison Square Garden in New York with a historic 54-point performance, and he has often played his best basketball against Toronto. Prior to tonight, Curry had scored an average of 28.6 points per game against the Raptors. On this night, however, his services would be in lower demand. Golden State was locked in from the beginning, opening the game on a 22-5 run and forming an impenetrable defensive wall. At the end of the first quarter, Toronto (the fifth highest scoring team in the NBA) had converted on only 1 of 19 field goal attempts, as the Warriors maintained a comm

Golden State Warriors @ Cleveland Cavaliers 02/26/2015

The conditions may have been frigid outside, but the atmosphere inside Quicken Loans Arena tonight was electric. The Golden State Warriors (best record in the NBA) entered the house of the Cavaliers this evening seeking to dethrone King James and his red-hot Cleveland squad. Winning tonight, however, would be a challenge unlike any that Golden State had encountered thus far. The Cavaliers entered the night with a record of 17-2 in their previous 19 games. Their recent success can most likely be attributed to the return of perhaps the greatest player in the NBA right now - their leader, LeBron James. However, Golden State entered the night with a dominant figure of their own, in the form of MVP candidate point guard Stephen Curry. Curry made his presence known immediately this evening, facilitating David Lee on many occasions and draining 12 points in the first quarter. Unfortunately for Golden State, their solid play came unraveled in the second quarter. Altho

Golden State Warriors @ Washington Wizards 02/24/2015

Fresh off of a tough loss in Indianapolis, the rejuvenated Golden State Warriors entered the Verizon Center on Tuesday evening prime for a daunting matchup against the struggling Washington Wizards. Early in the season, it had appeared that tonight's contest would feature two of the premiere starting backcourts in the NBA: the lethal shooting tandem of Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson against the dynamic duo of John Wall and Bradley Beal. Unfortunately for Washington, Bradley Beal was listed as inactive for tonight's game, as he is still recovering from an injured fibula. Regardless of Beal's absence, the energized Wizards exploded out of the gate, beginning the game on a 9-0 run. Draymond Green picked up two fouls in the first two minutes of the contest, forcing David Lee to check into the game prematurely for Golden State. However, the Warriors quickly recovered. Stephen Curry, fresh off of an ankle injury, made an immediate impact, dropping 13 in the first quarte

Golden State Warriors @ Indiana Pacers 02/22/2015

Entering Sunday's matinee game against the Pacers, the Golden State Warriors were flying high. Sitting at 43-9, their only immediate unanswered question remained: just how high could their ceiling actually be? This afternoon's contest promised to be anything but a casual one, featuring two teams with greatly differing styles. Seemingly, if the Warriors were able to somehow establish their uptempo, run and gun offensive style, rather than settling for playing the grinding style of the Indiana Pacers, they would likely walk away victoriously. However, the Warriors' original game plan came crashing down when it was announced that their leader, Stephen Curry, would miss today's game. Apparently, Curry had tweaked his ankle in Friday night's contest against the Spurs (although it certainly did not prevent him from having a magical night). In today's game, Shaun Livingston would start as his replacement at the point guard position. Unfortunate

Warriors Best The Spurs - Crucial Victory Or Just Another Game?

It has been nearly 24 hours since the Warriors cruised to a rather routine victory over the defending NBA Champion San Antonio Spurs, and many are probably asking themselves: doesn't a win of this magnitude propel the franchise to a new level of legitimacy across the league? Of course, there are statistics that suggest otherwise. Simply, last evening's game was a small sample size of an entire NBA season. After all, the Warriors were only granted ONE victory, and still have 30 games remaining before their presumable postseason run begins. From San Antonio's perspective, energy could have played a major factor in last night's contest. Their veteran squad had played a highly competitive game against the Los Angeles Clippers the prior evening, whereas the exuberant Warriors had not taken the court in nine days. However, discrediting the exceptional play of Golden State is unjustifiable. Throughout the season, they have proven themselves as the most resilient team in t

Golden State Warriors vs. San Antonio Spurs 02/20/2015

For the Golden State Warriors, the 2014-2015 season thus far can best be described as utter insanity. For the first time in franchise history, they entered the All-Star Break with a winning percentage exceeding 82%. Through 51 games, they led the NBA in points per game (averaging 110.6), and had the best home record (23-2), road record (19-7), and overall record (42-9) in the NBA. However, their dominant performances had stagnated in the final games of the "first half" of the season, as they pulled out agonizingly narrow victories in Philadelphia and Minnesota in games which they should have won with ease. With 31 challenges left on the slate, the question remained: Do the Golden State Warriors have enough left in the tank to finish the regular season on a hot streak and maintain their status as a serious title contender come late spring? Heading into Friday night's contest against the Spurs, it was unclear to fans and analysts alike as to which Golden State tea
