Fresh off of a tough loss in Indianapolis, the rejuvenated Golden State Warriors entered the Verizon Center on Tuesday evening prime for a daunting matchup against the struggling Washington Wizards. Early in the season, it had appeared that tonight's contest would feature two of the premiere starting backcourts in the NBA: the lethal shooting tandem of Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson against the dynamic duo of John Wall and Bradley Beal. Unfortunately for Washington, Bradley Beal was listed as inactive for tonight's game, as he is still recovering from an injured fibula. Regardless of Beal's absence, the energized Wizards exploded out of the gate, beginning the game on a 9-0 run. Draymond Green picked up two fouls in the first two minutes of the contest, forcing David Lee to check into the game prematurely for Golden State. However, the Warriors quickly recovered. Entering Sunday's matinee game against the Pacers, the Golden State Warriors were flying high. Sitting at 43-9, their only immediate unanswered question remained: just how high could their ceiling actually be? This afternoon's contest promised to be anything but a casual one, featuring two teams with greatly differing styles. Seemingly, if the Warriors were able to somehow establish their uptempo, run and gun offensive style, rather than settling for playing the grinding style of the Indiana Pacers, they would likely walk away victoriously. Apparently, Curry had tweaked his ankle in Friday night's contest against the Spurs (although it certainly did not prevent him from having a magical night). It has been nearly 24 hours since the Warriors cruised to a rather routine victory over the defending NBA Champion San Antonio Spurs, and many are probably asking themselves: doesn't a win of this magnitude propel the franchise to a new level of legitimacy across the league? Of course, there are statistics that suggest otherwise. Simply, last evening's game was a small sample size of an entire NBA season. After all, the Warriors were only granted ONE victory, and still have 30 games remaining before their presumable postseason run begins. For the Golden State Warriors, the 2014-2015 season thus far can best be described as utter insanity. For the first time in franchise history, they entered the All-Star Break with a winning percentage exceeding 82%. Through 51 games, they led the NBA in points per game (averaging 110.6), and had the best home record (23-2), road record (19-7), and overall record (42-9) in the NBA. However, their dominant performances had stagnated in the final games of the "first half" of the season, as they pulled out agonizingly narrow victories in Philadelphia and Minnesota in games which they should have won with ease. With 31 challenges left on the slate, the question remained: Do the Golden State Warriors have enough left in the tank to finish the regular season on a hot streak and maintain their status as a serious title contender come late spring?
